Marionette Lines Are Nothing to Smile About. Banish Yours With Juvéderm®

As you get older, your skin may start to sag and wrinkle. This is a normal part of aging. On your face, sagging skin can lead to the development of wrinkles and what's known as marionette lines, vertical creases that run between the edges of your nose or mouth and your chin or jawline.
Marionette lines are an unfortunate part of aging, but the good news is that you don't have to put up with them any longer. A safe and highly effective treatment known as dermal fillers can effectively address your marionette lines and leave your face looking years younger.
Here at Living Waters Regenerative Medicine Center in Gulf Breeze, Florida, Deborah D. Viglione, MD, an integrative and internal medicine physician, uses Juvéderm® dermal fillers to banish marionette lines. Here’s more about this exciting facial rejuvenation treatment.
A loss of volume
Aging causes your skin to lose volume as collagen, a protein in your skin, diminishes. As volume decreases, your skin begins to sag and collapse, paving the way for lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging to appear.
A filler is a type of treatment that helps erase lines by increasing volume and eliminating sags. Dermal fillers injected under your facial skin instantly add volume in places where you need it most.
Eliminating lines with Juvéderm
We use a variety of different dermal fillers to address various types of skin imperfections. For marionette lines, we often use Juvéderm fillers to plump up sagging skin in your lower face.
Juvéderm fillers contain a compound known as hyaluronic acid. This safe, natural compound is a gel that adds volume to your face, so you don’t need surgery or highly invasive procedures such as facelifts.
Lines disappear instantly when your provider injects Juvéderm under your skin using the thinnest of needles. Treatment with Juvéderm fillers can be provided as a stand-alone procedure, or it can be incorporated with other treatments, such as Botox®.
What to expect
Before you receive Juvéderm, your provider asks you about your health to make sure you're a good candidate for this treatment. Generally, the treatment is very well tolerated by most people. Juvéderm may not be right for you if you’re pregnant or if you have certain types of allergies.
Your treatment, which we do in our office, takes less than an hour to complete. You may experience some minor swelling or redness after your treatment, but this typically goes away on its own within a day or two.
Typically, results appear immediately after your treatment and last for 1-2 years. What a relief it is to stop seeing those marionette lines on your face every time you look in a mirror!
